Because the preferred format for FPP 2.2 has become the .mov format, I've started using Pano2QTVR for making these files. Because more ppl will probably start doing so, I just thought I'd share my findings after working with it for the first time. When converting a equirectangular image to cube faces I used spline64 for the interpolation. (Spline36 was the default setting, so I thought that increasing it to spline64 would only give me better results.) However, the resulting image displayed very jaggy edges, as if no anti aliasing was applied. I then tried Lanczos3 for the interpolation. It took a little longer, but the result was FAR better! I'll be sticking with that one for now, as I'm happy with the result.

However, does anybody else have more tips regarding the interpolation method (there are many more in Pano2QTVR) or Pano2QTVR in general? Let's help each other out! :)

Iґm using sinc1024
It is giving me exelent results....
i found this page where you can see a comparison between many interpolators.

Hi,

Just tested spline36, lanczos3 and sinc1024 on the same pano, and the results are really the same for me! even while zoom factor at max.

spline 36 is really fast comparing to the others...

I haven't done exhaustive comparisons myself, but the concensus on the Pano2QTVR (gardengnome.com) forums amongst those who have is that Lanczos3 and Mitchell offer the best results. Mitchell has a small preference, perhaps. I think this is true for PTGui as well.
