Hi
Im about to bye the flashpanoramaplayer and was just wondering one thing...
Is there a way to change the rotationspeed in the panorama... Many of the examples that I have seen feels slow. When I have been using Quicktime Iv been able to rotate in a panorama much faster...
So, is the Falshpanoramaplayer slower or is it simply a setting?
Can somone show me an example (fullscreen) where I can spin the panorama faster??
Many thanx in advance...

Hello popunonkok,
yes, the rotation speed is adjustable in many ways. For example, you can set the friction (that is if there is smooth decreasing of the movement after moving, or if the pano is directly stopped) and so on. And, of course, you can also set the overall speed. It's explained very well in the documentation of the Flash Panorama Player, but I don't know if you can access it before purchasing it?
Personally I also find the movement speed in most of the panos to slow. So here's an example of a faster rotation possibility: http://philippkoch.com/panotest/treptow/ It's only a test, so quality isn't that good, but I think you can get the idea :-)

Hi phberlin,
I too feel the rotation of many samples I have seen to be too sluggish, but the sample you linked to was much better. Can you let me know what the settings were you used? Also, is the rotation speed/smoothness a function of the size of the panoramic image itself?
Best regards,
Phil

Phberlin: Man that was great? I loved the feeling in that pano...
Just one more question, how large is that pano? (in kb i mean) Do you think that a nice detailed 6000*3000 px pano would be slower?
Once again, many thacks...

@ phil giles:
The parameters I use in the XML of that example are:
qualityMotion=low
qualityStatic=best
behaviour=2
sensitivity=100
threshold=0.0000001
friction=0.85
I'm not quite sure if I understand your second question (rotation speed/smoothness as a function of the image size); if I get you right, you want to know if it the rotation speed depends on the image size, e.g. the larger the file is the slower is the whole thing? Hhm, actually I must admit that I don't know the answer for sure. I guess that it depends strongly on the performance (especially graphic card and RAM) of the computer which displays the pano. At least that is how I expect it to be: A same rather large pano would be fine on a new machine, while it could be very slow on a rather outdated one with old graphics card and little RAM... But maybe someone who (unlike me :-) really knows something about this could clearify that?

@ popunonkok
Glad you like it :-)
Sorry, I do not have the original equirectangular image any more, so I can only tell you the cubes' size. Altoghether, the cubes are 1737 KB. Each cube is 1000 x 1000 pixel, so I guess the original pano image was 3000 x 1500 pixel.
I think, an image with 6000 x 3000 pixel would of course take longer to load, but the display performance should be similar -- I haven't tested this yet, so please don't count on that information too much! ;-)
