View Full Version : Black screen

I purchased FPP_v2.2.1 back 4-2009. I got extremely busy after that and long story short, I am just now starting to play with it. Is there a newer version and how can I get it, if this happens to be I need an update issue. I have my original email with registration.

I read somewhere about getting a Google login with my order when I never got any kind of Google link (I don't really desire to "do" Google anyway since all their free gifts amount to glorified spyware). I don't even know if I need one or an easy way to find out.

Here is what I did and how I got the black screen. Took the 6 cube faces from an output of Pano2QTVR. I loaded the 6 TIFF files into photoshop and saved as JPGs. Each file was 1818 x 1818 pixels and saved with a JPG quality of 8.

I named the files as new format:

tiff_0.tiff to tiff_l.jpg
tiff_1.tiff to tiff_f.jpg
tiff_2.tiff to tiff_r.jpg
tiff_3.tiff to tiff_b.jpg
tiff_4.tiff to tiff_u.jpg
tiff_5.tiff to tiff_d.jpg

and renamed pano.swf to tiff.swf

All I get is a black screen when I try to start tiff.swf. Same result no matter what I use to view it:

Flash Viewer stand alone V8
Firefox & IE with plugin v10

Thanks!

Download and install the free version of Flashificator to get things moving without further problems.

Yes you need the update from the Google Group.
The reason your pano does not work is that Flash 10 needs an xml file for your old version.
To get access to the Group you need a login from Denis.
It is all in his official blog her.

This is the important message

-----------------------------------------
How to update
As usual, the update is free for all customers. This time you can download the update manually from Flashpanoramas Group
(http://groups.google.com/group/flashpanoramas/). This is a private group, if you bought the player, but you never got the invitation to the group, contact me at flashpanoramas@gmail.com, we will fix it. Only one file to update (pano.swf), replace the old file with new pano.swf (or rename it if you has used a custom name like myPano.swf). That’s all, as I told already, the player has the full back compatibility and it works fine for Flash 9 and Flash 10. Current version of the player is “2.3″.
--------------------------
Mail him for the login and if you do not get an answer within 3 days mail him again and again.

Well with Flashificator I built a "test" project using the xxxxx_0 - 5 cubes as input. It creates a directory with many files including test.html. When I launch ut I receive a popup telling me that Adobe has prevented a potentially unsafe operation. However the pano does display and is scrollable but none of the controls I have requested show up on the screen outside of the big orange Open. ALso noted that I requested full screen and it didn't open in full screen.

I guess I'll wait till I receive my upgrade to move forward. Thanks for the help!

Did you replace the swfobject file with the more recent one?

As for Adobe's warning, that's what happens if you are trying to run flash content from your local drives, without having applied Adobe's permissions, which is of course an Adobe issue, and not a Flashificator one.

To prevent Adobe getting in your way, right click the panorama, click "settings", click "Advanced" and you will be taken over to Adobe's website, where you can change your local security settings.

But just out of curiosity, why would only this FPP swf file give me the error and not others running off the hard drive?

Update: Sorry, I meant to say why would other SWF files never give a security warning when I run them from the local hard drive.

OK, let me start over. First of all I appreciate the help very much and if I ask a question, I am not challenging anything, just curious because I simply don't know the answer :) I think I must have come down this road before as a lot of things I am encountering seem deja-vu to me.

I have FPP 2.2.1 installed fresh. I have both IE6 (for some old apps I have) and FF 3.0.15 (daily use). Flash Player Version: WIN 10,0,32,18. I start by opening Examples.htm of FPP root unzipped folder and viewing the examples. Everything seems to work OK, even able to use full screen by right clicking on the flash presentation and choosing Full Screen. Everything seems to work, "distorted hotspot" and all with the exception of "Panorama player inside another Flash movie", which shows a small movie on top of a dark gray screen similar to what I saw in my elementary test of adding 6 cube faces and renaming the swf file to the project name.

So I try my first pano as in the simple example that the documentation explains. I receive the gray screen. First experiment and act of creativity - failed :-)

So I read from Tuddi and see that the Flashificator I discovered on my system must have been installed by me and forgotten back in April and that it has a V 052 displayed on the top of the option menu. Since Tuddi is suggesting I use V 053, I decide to download and upgrade. I download the V 053 and it tells, unzip and try to install but it tells me I already have the software at that level installed on my system. So I uninstall it and re-install it. I still have V052 showing on the panel. So I give up and move on.

I name my 6 cube faces as input and select all the goodies that Flashifcator gives me including start on full screen. The test project I create results in a large folder of files. I assume that I need to run the one named test.html for the "test" project. I launch that html file it and it gives me Adobe security warnings, unlike I received when I viewed the examples.html file shipped with the software. After the warning messages, the pano actually displays beautifully and is scrollable but with no controls other than the orange OPEN in the lower right hand of the screen. This OPEN control is unresponsive. No other controls are available and right clicking on the pano and selecting "full screen" does nothing as well.

So at this point I am assuming that perhaps 1) a new release I have just requested will bring me something that will work better, 2) that the Flashificator developer forgot to update the version level displaying when he updated the free version from 052 to 053 and 3) that I should abandon testing until I receive the new version.

Pointers and newbie help is more than appreciated. Thanks!!!

Sorry but that was for Flash 9.
The security permissions was removed in Flash 10.

Only a week or so ago, another user of FFC had a similar problem. The preview project did not work, while the fullscreen project worked well from the SAME LOCATION. Once he has changed the security settings through Adobe, both the preview and fullscreen html files worked.

To the best of my knowledge, he was using Flash10.
