Hi All,

Been a while since I posted...A customer recently complained about my interface and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to correct...I am sure I am just rusty with FPP :D.

Here is the Tour

http://www.dmcdigitalmedia.com/hostvt/330wat/index.htm

Problem :

Click on the View slideshow button - ok all good......now if you immediately try to click on the Hide slideshow button that has appeared nothing happens..it still thinks you are moused over the View slide show button.

After opening the Slideshow you have to click in the viewing window once before the Hide slideshow button works.

This seems to be an issue on the show details button as well - what am I missing ?

Here is the code for the slideshow buttons:

<spot id="slideshow" depth="21" static="1" salign="C" staticX="-1750" staticY="-700" buttonmode="0" url="FPPslideshow1.swf" blockMouse="1"

visible="0"

/>

<spot id="ViewSlideshow" alt="View Slideshow" url="images/Slideshow.png" static="1" salign="BL" staticX="238" staticY="-22" glow="5" glowColor="#2c71a4" glowBlur="10" depth="21"

onclick="alpha=0,150;openSlideshow();dimpano();"

dimpano = "pano.saturation=-1,50;pano.brightness=-1,200;"
openSlideshow ="slideshow.visible=1;slideshow.staticY=0,150;slides how.staticX=0,150,,openXY;"
openXY ="EndSlideshow.visible=1,100; EndSlideshow.alpha=1,100;"

/>

<spot id="EndSlideshow" alt="End Slideshow" url="images/endslideshow.png" static="1" salign="BL" staticX="238" staticY="-22" glow="5" glowColor="#e21e1e" glowBlur="7" depth="20"

onclick="alpha=0,150;closeslideshow();lightpano();"

lightpano = "pano.brightness=0,150;pano.saturation=0,250;"
closeslideshow="slideshow.staticY=-700,150;slideshow.staticX=-1750,150,,closeIt;"
closeIt="slideshow.visible=0; ViewSlideshow.visible=1,100; ViewSlideshow.alpha=1,100;"

Thoughts ?

Sorry Dennis

But, Why do you make it, so the browser window jumps to 100% of my screen?

It is most f-ing annoying, Am I the only one that hates this?

Same here... I can't stand it when the browser is kicked out of full screen.

There is something in the html that can fix it... just don't ask me what it is.

This is a very common issue with pano2vr pano outputs... or so it seems to me.

Sorry for not having a solution to either problem Dennis.

hey DMC,
I believe it's because you eliminate the alpha in the onclick for ViewSlideshow, but don't ever get around to eliminating the "visible".
Functions "openXY" and "closeit" have calls to bring back visiblity, but it was never taken away in the first place and since ViewSlideshow has a higher depth, it's always lurking there, in the way. Although it seems as if sometimes they duke it out over which one FPP will recognize more. Best bet would be to add the visible=0 code to your functions for when the spots aren't needed and all should be well.

Actually Harry it appears You and Tuddi may be the only ones that dont like it :)...I do a lot of high end real estate tours and feature most people requested when I polled them was a Bigger Viewing window - This poll went out to 500+ realtors in the High end segment. When I do commercial tours I sometimes make it a fixed window but I would say 95% of my clients prefer the detect screen size feature (It is a simple HTML line that does this.)

I mean ...if you are interested in the Pano Content why not ? Like I said I offer it both ways...most in my market prefer "Auto Uber Size" :p

I'm sorry Dennis,

but I think you are way wrong there.

My conception is that most people get REALLY annoyed when somebody or something is messing with their browser window.

Personally - I hate it!

And this is sugar coated :)

Everyone is correct here,
You shouldn't mess with the browser window when the size is already adequate for display. This is pretty simple, you just need a few more lines of code.

Hi Dennis, I am not sure if you understand the "issue of hatred" we have here. I absolutely like and prefer as big a display as possible, and that is the automatic way we have it done in Flashificator as you can see here: http://insope.com/elNorte

The "jump" we so much dislike (and I know of NO ONE who likes it) results in the browser to detatch from the full screen position, and that FORCES THE USERS to click it back into full screen position, because the WHOLE thing, with all tabs has been detatched from the full screen position.

It has nothing to do with the full size view.. it has everything to do with a terribly, horribly annoying interference in one's own settings for workspace, going beyond the panorama alone. Close the tab with the panorama that caused this jump, and the browser is still fucked up and out of position. Thanks to such settings, the users need to correct their browser position.

That is intrusive and annoying.

Taking it one step further, one could make the whole browser window with all tabs inside it resize to 300x200 pixels.... just because one likes to decide for people how their browser "should" be sized.

As you can see, it would be anything BUT good.

I think Trausti had summed it up nicely.

Don’t mess with my workspace. I run four high res monitors, and if I wanted my browser to fill one of them I’d set it that way myself. But I don’t, I need to see what’s going on behind my browser, so it goes with out saying that I did not see your pano at all, because I close the window before it had time to load.

I know your saying your clients prefer it, but personally, I feel rather violated when it happens, as if my desktop had just been raped.

PS
I also wonder how may of your clients run their browser full screen, I’d suggest 95%

Here an example of such a "desktop rape": http://translation.paralink.com/translator/translator.asp?clientid=IDABXORB&ln=en&text=

Wait now your sayin porno sites are bad...thats where I draw the line !:)

Ok Guys Perhaps I need to look at this...I have been a user of FPP for years and never felt this hostile vibe in the forum before and I have posted similar samples MANY times with out ever hearing this objection....I'm sure its me being hyper sensitive as I have conversed with many of you before in nothing but a friendly manner. I guess I get a bit defensive so I apologize ;)

Now...as I said, All the clients I do business with see both examples and most choose the Auto Resize - Not all but most, they pay me and like it so I offer it.

I can see, however, how it would be annoying particularly if you are a developer with 4 Monitors or feel "Raped" if someone takes control of your workspace etc, so point taken. The Beauty of FPP is you can customize almost anyway you want !

Not sure I am understanding the objection..seriously not being a wise guy...so please dont flame !

If a user is already viewing ...say Internet Explorer in Full screen then nothing really changes right ? Or does it ?

When I offer a Fixed size window it assumes the most common screen size is 1024 x 768 and my FPP Analytics seems to agree. What do you guys design for ?

Oh and lastly...Understanding you hate the interface...any idea on the original question regarding the Hotspot behavior ?

Regards

Dennis

Hey Guys....I took this code out of the HTML - I put that in when I first designed my interface and never really thought about it

window.moveTo(0,0); window.resizeTo(window.screen.availWidth,window.sc reen.availHeight); window.focus();

Is the sample better now ?

http://www.dmcdigitalmedia.com/hostvt/330wat/index.htm.

I had always used FPP embedded in an HTML page for a fixed size window...I did that when I first started and never realized it would go to the full browser window available. Sorry for being so thick ! Thanks for the Honesty, that how we get better

It still resizes the browser :(

But I suppose since I started the debate, I should be the first to offer a solution.

I think it’s in the button visibility,

ViewSlideshow visible=1
Onclick= “ViewSlideshow.visible=0; EndSlideshow.visible=1”

And EndSlideshow visible=0
Onclick= “ViewSlideshow.visible=1; EndSlideshow.visible=0”

rather than in the openXY and closeIt

and have the depth of both at "20" (?maybe?)

This should fix it.

And I do really like your work, It’s just I was in the middle of something last night and it got too me, sorry

NP ....It was me being overly sensitive...I will try your solution..Thanks much !

The browser does not resize for me now in Firefox or Safari. What are you using and did you clear cache (not sure if that would make a diff)

Ouch... sorry. My words were not aimed at hurting anyone's feelings. With your latest change I LOVE the tour ;) Ever since my first day's at these forums, I have liked your works, and that hasn't changed at all. It is just that these jumps in the browser get to my nerves like stepping in dog-poo that glues to the shoe and doesn't want to wash off... same feeling I have when a pano follows the mouse, without one clicking the pano to move it.

Why your hotspots behave the way they do... I don't know... but the page is perfect in behaviour now.

Again sorry for making you feel under attack, since that was nowhere close to my intentions. Such things can happen when the only way we have in the communication is by exchanging dry digitalized words.
