Does anyone have experience with SONY A900, the 24 mega pixel camera?

Would it be an overkill for panorama works or??

If you use for an example Sigma 8mm fisheye lense I guess it can't deliver that high resolution/sharpness so it would be an idea with so many pixels. If you use many more shots with a regular wideangle I guess your filesize will blow up dramatically, certainly you can zoom in even more but why...
A common apprehension is if you buy a camera with more than ca 15 MP you must buy expensive professional lenses to benefit of the high resolution.
I use my old 8 MP camera and it is sharp enough if I shoot zenith picture too which I often forgotten, but my next camera I will step up to 12 or 15 MP and then I am satisfied.

I wonder why exactly Sony? What about 5D MkII or D700?
Why do U prefer particularly this one, Tuddi?

Just interest. First off, the very high resolution, secondly, the price tag is quite acceptable (can be found at 2000 dollars). I can see how it would be an over-kill for panoramas, especially since Adobe is still not allowing us to use bigger than 8190 pixels images, but for for billboard ads, other professional and private photography, it could deliver very high resolutions.
Of course this is just a taste of what is coming... now that the cat is out of the box, and in a price range that is "acceptable", we will soon see the competition follow suit and the less pricey cameras will get even a doubling of pixel range.
I am ... and will probably be stuck in the Olympus fold... I like their products and quality (and still acknowledge that other brands are better in many ways)... so this is just a question out of interest.
