I can't talk for Zephyr, but I'm also a costumer (bought hideapano the moment he released it) and I still use it (with a few problems I admit, but it's working).
About your problem acessing the temp folder, I don't know if it's possible to use a proxy to bypass the block? Also, why is zephyr's site blocked in china? I don't think he can be blamed for something that's clearly out of his control.
