Hi,
Myself and my colleague have just completed our second multi touch table for a client. It occured to me that it would be pretty cool if we could use it to display panos.
Its easily done - there is a flash app package available open source and its just a matter of importing some classes and changing the MouseEvents to "TouchEvents". The only problem is you would need to edit the FPP source code.
Of course I could make my own simplistic version using papervision3D but it would never live up to the quality of FPP and have such functionality.
Does anyone have any interest in this area? Maybe we could speak to Denis about this if enough of us are interested...
For more info about multitouch see www.nuigroup.com where there is a thriving community much like this one.
Look forward to hearing from you on this subject.

very interesting page,
IMO seeing should stay connected with seeing sense not touch, as panography is/will be only praehistory of VR i think it will continue in VR glasses way not touchtables, as rotating your head would be most "natural" way of navigation in VR space
i tested some VR glasses about ten years ago, looks like the only answer why its not at everyone home yet is that electronic giants need to get profit from the LCD/plasma technology at least equal to their investments in developing it

I see your point, and partly agree.
However, until such a time that VR goggles are $200/Ј100 a set I plan to focus my energy on more acheivable ways to enrich the user experience, and love apple or hate apple, they have proved with the iPhone that the new direction in touch interface will be around for some time.
Also our interactive table is as much about "seeing" as it is touching, and our current client is a photographers co-operative who will use it to display their portfolios. Thats why this topic is on this page - I am also building their tour.
Dont get me wrong though - I'd love to go inside a tour with a headset or goggles
regards!

also you - dont take me wrong :) i find this page very inspiring,
this interactive ceiling is awesome http://naturalinteraction.org/?gclid=COLG7_H2iJUCFSNPMAodvWKhqA
after typing in google iphone panorama i wanted to get this phone, but its price for having nice toy with one great function was a little too high...
i loved apple but bought LG (to have some more functionality)
anyway other producents also put accelometer/touchscreen in their phones (i have to say thats apple that made this trend), so we just need to wait a while for wise programmers (and for flash lite development) to play our panos/tours on almost every new phone
and looking forward to exchange my (under) mousepad to touchpad :)

This works fine with my panos...

Yes but we build our own tables from scratch, we use flash for all the content so it would be great to add a panorama player to our armoury.

Wow, LepLep, thanks for the link! That is some amazing stuff iO is doing.

There _is_ an open source Papervision3D based pano viewer (http://flashpanos.com/content/panosalado-open-source-flash-panorama-player) out there, with excellent quality. It wouldn't be a stretch to have it include special "TouchEvents".

Thanks for the tip cheathamlane.
I will check it out. I plan to go ahead and build simple pano viewers for the touch interface anyhow. If they work nicely I'll post a link. Gotta get this tour finished first. Saw xml data in my dreams last night.......
