Any news on this? I'd like to learn more...
Hello Everybody,
Firstable, i would like to thanks for all your e-mail , even i had not time enough to reply each one.
Here some news about the Gmap Widget Plugin for FPP :
History version :
0.3b :
-The Plugin is usable in Production mode, bug-free, it still remain
some minor glitches, you and your client shouldn't even notice
- 3D Flip effect
- Online demo
--
To made this Plugin public, i have to deal with 2 Things :
- > Google Terms of Service
- > AFComponents.com EULA and/or Commercial Licensing components
---
---------> The good news :
-> AFC agree with public distribution
-> I can follow the Google TOS rules just re-adding the Google Logo on the map (had you noticed it was invisible ?)
---
---
---------> The bad news :
-> the AFC commercial license for component is expensive and have to be renewed every year
---
then, what should i do ?
i have spent some hours designing and coding this thing (for my own needs)
and i have no intention to loose money by buying a Commercial license if there no customers enough to make it rentable.
Then, i have to know how many of you really want to buy this plugin,
---
Conditions will be :
- price 29 euros (you can pay in your own currency via PayPal)
- the plugin will be restricted to one single domain name (one fee - one domain name)
(mean if you build website for clients you'll charge back them the option, if you are not pro (mean not re-sell panos) then you're just need one domain name for your portfolio/showroom, so this isn't a problem..)
- during the Beta step, the map will be restricted to one aerial view only ( you will choose the one you want - lat/long/zoom )
this restriction will be unlocked for Candidate release when Beta step will be over.
-Date of availabiliy depend on number of people.
- there not trial version. Never.
sorry for annoyance
---
BUT :
The 30 First people buying The GMW Plugin will get an unlimited domain version as soon as final release come out.
(this kind of Subscription Policy allow me to buy the AFC License and benefit to you too :
it mean you pay 29 euros one time and will be able to use/re-sell later for all your clients)
all other will have to pay : one fee - one domain policy.
---
so,send a mail to : smartvrcontroller at davxmedias dot com
with "GMW Subscribe" in the mail object,
i will inform later when i'll reach the 30 requests to start the order process.
in case, the 30 requests isn't reach,
I will higher the price (according to the request number) or i will stop the public project cause i have really few time to invest in, it depend of you.
---
Thanks for your attention,
See you
david

excellent project!
and 29 euros really is a bargain!
the only drawback is the cost of 1400 euros per map that e.g. tele atlas charges when actually using a map.
yours,

Hello Everybody,
Here some good and bad news about the Gmap Widget Plugin for FPP :
as far as i see this Subscription is a failure... too few people are interested in GMW to make it rentable,
This is a waste of time for me ... so, before i decide to stop the public project..
Sorry but i have to change rules as is :
Conditions will be :
- price 39 euros (you can pay in your own currency via PayPal - http://www.davxmedias.com/smartvrcontroller/)
- the plugin will be restricted to one single domain name (one fee - one domain name)
(mean if you build website for clients you'll charge back them the option, if you are not pro (mean not re-sell panos) then you're just need one domain name for your portfolio/showroom, so this isn't a problem..)
- during the Beta step, the map will be restricted to one aerial view only
( you will choose the one you want - lat/long/zoom and mapType at : http://www.davxmedias.com/smartvrcontroller/gmw_fpp/gmw_setup/mapsetup.html )
this restriction will be unlocked for Candidate release when Beta step will be over.
- Date of availability : followings days
- Free Updates policy
there will not unlimited domain name versions, :-(
the reason behind this is there no way to protect your investment if guy next door take your plugin for his own website...
but, in order to forgive me i will offer a second GMW Plugin to the people who has suscribed The GMW Plugin.
(then you can re-sell to one of your client and make money, up to you to charge as high as you want..)
--
if for any reasons, you want no more buy GMW and think this is better start build your own one,
i'll understand, no worries about that.
----
Thanks for your attention
---
- for some technicals reasons and legals issues,
i'm currently working on 3 differents versions of GMW with different core inside : Gmap/Umap/Google Flash API,
each version has his owns bugs and that's very tricky to make things running smoothly ...
(keep in mind that sharing code snippet and make available a full-featured plugin easy to use are really differents things
and take much time than expected)

Hi Guys,
Is it ok to use the Google maps info on a commercial site ? If anyone has any info pls let me know.
This is in their Google Maps API license:
'The API may be used only for services that are generally accessible to consumers without charge. Accordingly, You may not use the API for any service that requires a subscription or other restricted access, or for which a fee is charged.'
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/terms.html
I'd love to use Google Maps on my commercial sites but I don't want any angry letters.

Hi Ewart.
For as long as you keep the google out in the open for everyone to access it, even though it's a commercial site, it would be problem free, according to their terms.
If for instance you sell a website layout with a panorama and include Google maps in the project, you would be in violation of their terms.
... to get around the obvious problem, you could PREPARE the site for using Google and sell it WITHOUT the google components, but you can always instruct the final client on what to do in order to have things to work properly.
Then you are not making money on google in any way, and are safe from reprecussions.
Hi there,
thanks Tuddi to clarify these points,
Google Terms of use and service aren't easy to understand for everybody...

yes Tuddi, but at the end Google doesn't know that the final client intalled himself the components. All Google sees is the result. But I may be wrong...

Sure, but let's assume the work you sell has this little tidbit at the bottom of the page in question:
Site design by: bloupi inc. bloupi.com
And at your site you would have it clearly stated that you offer site desings READY for implementation of google maps, but that you do not sell those as a part of the final project, and the final client will have to add the last components/lines of code to make things work.
In that case you could welcome a bunch of google lawsuits, win them all and become rich and ruthless :)

im affraid google see MUCH more
Hi,
@birdeye
Is it possible to integrate this widget plugin in f.ex. a Wordpress Blog ?
yes, once you integrate FPP in wordpress,
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/fpp-pano/
http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/2008/04/embedding-panoramas-into-blogger-update.html
http://www.nicolasburtey.net/blog/
all plugins can be integrated too,
but see the size of GMW it's better to display over pano only in fullscreen,
so just open pano in fs with all your hotspot could be an idea...
or add a fullscreen(-) on the GMW button will open the pano in fs with the opened map over...

That's Great, I didn't know that it was possible to integrate FPP in WordPress.
I'm planning to build a large virtual tour of a city. But I'm still searching for the best solution. A blog or a classic website.
Thanks for reply, Davx.
