Hi All,

I would like to know all the possible ways to load a pano faster such as
1.Make the image smaller with a low quality.

Can you list all the factors that we can do to make the loading faster?

Thanks In Adance!

Can you list all the factors that we can do to make the loading faster?

There are at least two aspects to this, download speed and display speed.

For download you want the fastest server possible to give users the best chance of a fast download. Next comes file size which is dependent on image size and compression. Don't make the image larger than needed. For fullscreen something between 1200 and 1600 px cubeface sizes suffice. If you aren't going fullscreen then you might get away with 500 px. Pano2VR (or pano2QTVR) can help here by recommending an optimal face size based on you default viewing size.

To make the file size as small as possible use the highest compression you can get away with. I usually end up around 65%. Pano2VR / Pano2QTVR lets you apply different compressions to each face, if you want to go that far. Faces without smooth areas hide compression artifacts better so may be able to handle more compression.

Next comes display speed. Cubefaces remain the fastest. FPP must use movdecoder to extract the faces from a MOV format file, which takes time that depends on the viewer's computer. In my experience on a relatively modern computer decoding / extracting takes less than a second more than just using cubefaces. But I just read a post from Hans Nyberg where he has seen as much as 10-13 on some older computers. So this can have a significant impact.

Hope that helps.
